The Great Blacks in Wax Museum is dedicated to preserving, studying and educating the public about African American history. With more than 100 life size, realistic wax figures of historical and modern African personalities, the museum is highly unique in nature. A large replica of a slave ship is also featured at the museum.

The last all sail warship built by the US Navy and the only civil war vessel still afloat, the USS Constellation is now open as a museum. Many artifacts are on display, as well as slide shows and audio stations. A replica cannon is also on board the ship. Most tours are self-guided; however, special guided tours can be arranged.

Baseball fans won't want to miss the Babe Ruth Museum. After first opening in 1974, the musem has grown to include the Archives of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Colts. Rare artifacts, photos, videos audio highlights and trivia facts are scattered throughout the various exhibits at the museum. The featured exhibit is Babe Ruth, but visitors will also enjoy the Home Run Club exhibits and many others.

Shrunken heads, giant balls of twine, weird toys and many other one-of-a-kind items can be viewed at the American Dime Museum in Baltimore. It was established to resemble the traveling museums from the 1800s which captivated spectators with strange exhibits. Visitors can tour the facilities from Monday to Friday, 12pm to 3pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm.

The Walters Art Museum is a privately assembled museum, comprised by the collections of one family. The museum is home to more than 25,000 works of art with a comprehensive history spanning from the third millenium B.C. to the early 20th century. Also included in the collection are rare books, manuscripts, ceramics, tapestries and jewelry.

The Baltimore Maritime Museum features a collection of National Historic Landmarks that have contributed significantly to America's maritime history. Included is the Coast Guard Cutter 'Taney', the WWII Submarine 'Torsk', the Lightship 'Chesapeake' and the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse. Each ship has a history with a story to tell.

Port Discovery is a child-geared museum with three floors of interactive exhibits for the entire family. Many of the exhibits are educational as well as entertaining and have been designed in partnership with Walt Disney Imagineering. Port Discovery encourages visitors to explore the many activities with both their minds and hands.

Washington Monument and Museum
This monument commemorates George Washington, the first president of the United States. History abounds in this neighbourhood, with Mount Vernon Square and the Maryland Historical Society both located nearby. Despite it's height, the view from the top of the monument is obstructed by the Baltimore cityscape.

The American Visionary Art Museum is located in downtown Baltimore. Exhibiting works of art created by self-taught artists, the museum has a permanent collection of over 4,000 pieces, as well as many changing exhibits. The architecture of the building that houses the museum is a work of art in itself, and has won many awards.
